怪兽与邓不利多的秘密”周末北美开片成绩稍逊于“怪兽”等级，起码以魔法世界的水准来说是如此。根据北美院线联盟数据，这部片约进帐4300万美元。
华纳兄弟的“怪兽与邓不利多的秘密”（ Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore ）是“怪兽”系列片第3章，美国娱乐业界周刊“综艺”（ Variety ）报导，尽管这部片荣登北美周末票房冠军，却是魔法世界（ Wizarding World ）系列片11部作品中最差的一个，也不如前两部“怪兽”片。

2016年的“怪兽与牠们的产地”（ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ）北美开片有7400万美元，2018年“怪兽与葛林戴华德的罪行”（ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald ）也有6200万美元。
法新社报导，影艺事业顾问公司“娱乐经销研究”（ Franchise Entertainment Research ）负责人葛罗斯（ David A. Gross ）说：“怪兽本来就无法延续哈利波特的成就。”他说：“哈利波特现象一个世代难得一见。”
北美院线联盟（ Exhibitor Relations ）今天通报，排名第2的是谐星金凯瑞（ Jim Carrey ）的“音速小子2”（ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ），收入3000万美元，远低于上周末开片的7100万美元。
