上一篇提到大部分學生進入醫學院的路，進大學、拿必修課、申請醫學院。有另外一條路，比較接近台灣醫學系的概念，讓學生從大學開始，進入一套制定的系統念書，之後“直升”醫學院。這種系統不消說，非常難進。這篇就跟大家分享這條路的資料。在Google打入“BS/MD programs”，就可以看到不少網站專門介紹這種programs。這種學士/博士合併programs，從六年到九年都有，絕大部分是七年跟八年，大學課程念三年，醫學院念四或五年。就我找到的資料看來，錄取率比我想像的要高，大約在10%左右。但是因為申請的人不多，所以看錄取率可能不是最準確的標準。

那要申請會需要什麼資格呢?除了基本的成績(GPA & SAT or ACT)跟校外活動(實習之類的)以外，還會有面試、文章(通常是你為什麼要當醫生)、跟推薦信。從高中要申請進的過程，其實跟申請普通大學的過程沒有太大的差別。
真正開始有差別的是在進大學之後，並不是直接保送醫學院，還會有第二層的標準要達到，才可以進入醫學院。
譬如說Boston University要求學生需要在Science的課程保持3.2的GPA，MCAT則是需要考到80百分比以上 (資料來源)。
Washington University 則是要求3.8GPA跟MCAT達到97百分比 (資料來源)
Drexel Univeristy 要求數學、生物、化學、物理要有平均3.6的GPA，MCAT要511分 (資料來源)
進入這些program的學生，學校都會特別禮遇，譬如說搭配上專門的輔導幫助選課，或是在校內找研究機會的機率也比較高。但是這種program除非學生很清楚知道自己的未來，心智跟能力也都有一定成熟度，不然會很痛苦。
